The Hammocks is a 53-home conservation subdivision located on the edge of a tidal river with panoramic views of Long Island Sound.  Sitting on a 100 acre tract of nursery land, the design solution transforms empty growing fields into an historic New England coastal village. Two common greens were created that serve as the core of the layouts historic identity, while maximizing open space and reducing developed area. An architecturally accurate mix of 18th century Georgian and Federal homes commingle with 19th century Greek Revival and Shingle style examples, all arranged to reflect historic development patterns. The entire concept was conceived, planned and  designed by Williams Architects.
